![]() Building a Layout in a WeekendPHIL PARKER from BRM Magazine tells us about the layout he built in a weekend at the N Gauge Show. ![]() Have you ever thought you don't have space for a model railway? Worried that you'll never complete one? Perhaps you feel you don't have all the skills required to build something? ![]() The team at BRM are determined to get people modelling, so we tried to build a simple layout in 2 days at The International N Gauge Show in September. ![]() To make life easier, we designed the model to fit in a readily available plastic box. This makes storage easy and give the builder somewhere to keep materials while working. Gaugemaster generously provided the Kato Unitrack, buildings, scenic cover and trees. It was really handy to be able to use the website as a one-stop-shop when planning this project. Click this image to view a larger version. By the end of the weekend, the layout ran and most of the scenery was complete. We even had a couple of buildings. 3 more days work saw the model finished and looking good. This assumes any model railway is ever really finished. We've already started thinking about little detail improvements and changes... ![]() Read all about the model in the November 2016 and December 2016 issues of BRM, and find out how you can win this model! Ed's note - as a handy guide, here is a list of items used on the layout: GM127 Tree Pack - N Scale Spring/Summer GM170 Static Grass/Flock - Spring Grass GM172 Static Grass/Flock - Moorland Grass GMC-COMBI Single Track Controller with Plug in Transformer GMC-M1 Cased Transformer - 16v AC~ GMC-W Single Track Walkabout Controller GMKD21 Level Crossing Gates and Keepers Cottage |
