No Business Like Snow Business

STUART JORDAN looks at different snow effect products to add a touch of winter to your layout.

It’s getting to that time of year when (in the Northern Hemisphere at least) the winter nights draw in and the snow begins to fall... if you believe what you see on Christmas cards! If you want to emulate the sight of treetops glistening then we have a variety of products to add snow effects to your layout.

Snow

Deluxe Materials produce three different snow products; Scenic Snowflakes, Scenic Shovelled Snow and a Scenic Snow Set.

DLBD-25 Scenic Snowflakes come in a shaker and can be applied to give anything from a light frost to a heavy covering.

DLBD-26 Shovelled Snow is specially made to act like large piles of snow and big drifts. If you mix it with DLAD-25 Scatter Grip you can mould it into snowballs and snowmen! Don’t forget the GM122 Coal for his eyes and buttons...

DLBD-29 Scenic Snow set gives you the Scenic Snowflakes from above, as well as Scenic Bond and Icy Sparkles (DLBD-33). The Icy Sparkles can be added to the snowflakes to give them that extra twinkle.

Noch also product a selection of snowy products...

N08752 Snow Paste can be used to mould drifts or snowmen, and if diluted with water it can be applied to the branches of trees.

N08754 Ice Crystals – This comes as a stick and can be applied to pavements and roads to simulate a layer of ice. It dries crystal clear in 2-3 hours.

N08756 Icicles – This gel is applied using the bottle and drawn down into icicle shapes. Like the Ice Crystals these dry clear and hard in 2-3 hours.

N08760 Snowflakes are 1mm snow fibres which can be applied with a N60135 Grass Master or puffer bottle onto N61138 Snow Glue.

Noch also produce two starter sets, N08758 Winter Set which contains Icicles, Ice Crystals and Snow Paste, and the N07065 Snowflake Set which contains a puffer bottle, Snowflakes, and Snow Glue.

Other Ideas

Noch also produce coniferous trees with snow on them in various sizes.

Various different companies produce wintery figures in a variety of scales to add more detail to your winter scenes.
