Viessmann 2016 New Items

Julian Lilley looks at what is due for release in 2016 from Viessmann.

Viessmann are one of the biggest companies in the world producing high quality model catenary, signalling and lighting systems for continental layouts, but a lot of their products would sit very comfortably on any layout in most gauges.

Their fantastic range of E-Motion HO/OO figures and vehicles will bring your layout to life and create great interest amongst all ages. Below I have highlighted some new items for this year that took my eye at the Nuremburg Fair this year.

First the VN1548 Lumberjack with Chainsaw.

No matter if it is a forestry scene, an amateur gardening or modelling a scene from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre – the worker with chainsaw offers lots of different opportunities. With an under floor drive unit, mounting depth 38 mm, there are no visible signs of how it moves.

For extra realism add the VN5572 Chainsaw Sound Module. This provides sound according to the movement of the figure and why not go the whole hog by adding the N21928 Noch Falling Tree. These and other E-Motion items can be operated using switches on a DC layout or by using the DCC30 Accessory Decoder for up to four accessories on a DCC layout.

Also new and to make your layout really up to date and topical, why not add a woman taking a selfie on her mobile phone! The VN1551 eMotion Selfie Girl has a phone with a flash, which is simulated with a micro led that flashes irregularly.

For the miniaturists, Viessmann now produce nostalgic park lamps in Z Scale as well as N Scale. The VN7174 Park Lamp is just 20mm tall and has a realistic warm yellow micro LED. If you think that's small, the VN7178 Wall Lamp at just 11mm high. The detail is superb for something so small.

In HO/OO Scale, Viessmann have introduced a prototypical brass mast platform light which is 74mm high, VN6109 Baden-Baden Platform Light (Warm White LED). As with most of their lighting it has a patented base socket for easy mounting and maintenance free LED lighting.

Whilst on lighting - I thought that their range of three micro LED’s including resistor, that require no soldering, would be a godsend to those like me that hate soldering. They come in the three colour options (VN3560 Warm White, VN3561 Yellow, VN3562 White) and measure just 1.6mm x 0.8mm in packs of 5.

This neat 1970–late 1980’s style VN5064 Petrol Pump with LED Lighting also caught my eye, and will add extra interest to your layout.

Although not new this year I feel I must draw you attention to just some of their eMotion vehicles. If the three below has wet your appetite for more then go to the Viessmann section on our website.

First the VN20859 Functional Claas Combine Harvester, seen regularly on British farms at harvest time. It comes complete with functional headlights and rotating coiler.

Second, the popular Fendt Vario Favorit 926 tractor still widely used today. The VN22266 Functional Fendt Tractor is equipped with functional head lights, rear lights and yellow flashing lights on top of the cab.

And last but not least the VN21751 Functional Fork Lift Truck. It features two functional headlights operated by the integrated digital decoder as well as making the forklift move up and down the mast.
