One of the appealing aspects of narrow gauge railways was their ability to be established quickly, allowing lines or infrastructure to be altered—or even moved entirely, as with wartime trench railways. As a result, buildings on these lines were often simple and functional. This Corrugated Engine Shed exemplifies that approach, featuring corrugated sides and roof with two bolted doors. It would have provided quick, cost-effective shelter for locomotives while remaining easy to erect and dismantle as required.
