Freight and livestock were usually loaded via a dock like this one. Other uses could be at a car-train terminal, where cars were driven up such a ramp and then into special wagons on the rear of longer distance train services. Loading docks were also seen at larger factories and industrial complexes to aid loading onto both rail and road vehicles.
