DetailsIntroduced in 1994, the E4 Series Shinkansen was Japan’s second-generation double-decker high-speed train, following the pioneering E1 Series. Typically operated in 16-car formations—two coupled 8-car sets—it could also run alongside other E4 Series trains and the E3 Series Yamagata Shinkansen “Tsubasa”. With a maximum passenger capacity of 1,634, it held the record as the world’s highest-capacity high-speed train. Following the introduction of the E5 Series, the E4 Series has primarily served the Joetsu Shinkansen, and in 2014, its distinctive stripe colour was updated from yellow to pink. This model faithfully recreates the double-decker design, striking livery, and iconic profile of the E4 Series, making it a standout addition for collectors of Japanese high-speed trains and N gauge enthusiasts. |
