DetailsThe 883 Series was introduced in 1995 to accelerate services on the Nippo Main Line and enhance passenger comfort. As JR Kyushu’s first pendulum-type train—and Japan’s first AC pendulum train in commercial service—it became a technological milestone. Each production year brought subtle design differences, and from 2005 the fleet adopted its now-familiar metallic blue livery. To celebrate the 30th anniversary in 2025, the first formation (AO-1) has received a special commemorative design scheduled to operate through the end of the year. This model faithfully reproduces the AO-1 set with its unique anniversary decoration, including three illuminated fog lights—an all-new feature—along with the anniversary logos and the central front fog light. Perfect for Kyushu enthusiasts, this release pairs beautifully with other JR Kyushu models such as the 787 Series “36 Plus 3,” the 787 Series Around the Kyushu, and the 885 Series (2nd Batch) Around the Kyushu. |
