DetailsThe GDR German State Railroad express steam locomotive, road number 18 314, represents a remarkable example of post-war locomotive innovation. Fitted with coal firing and a 2´2´T34 coal tender, this experimental rebuild was developed by the VES-M Halle (Saale) research department. The locomotive features a “Reko” rebuilt boiler and partial streamlining, based on the former Baden IVh design, with Witte smoke deflectors and an inductive magnet on one side. Depicted as it appeared around 1962/1963, this model captures the unique engineering, historic significance, and distinctive appearance of one of East Germany’s most intriguing express steam locomotives. |
