Details

The Type T 9.3 tank locomotives were versatile engines used for both passenger and goods trains, operating at speeds up to 60 km/h, later increased to 65 km/h. In 1925, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) incorporated a significant number of these locomotives into its fleet, classifying them under the designations 91.3-18 and 91.20 according to the official drawing plans.

Following World War II, the Type T 9.3 locomotives were gradually withdrawn from scheduled service, with the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) completing the process by 1964 and the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) finalising it by 1971. These locomotives played an important role in early 20th-century rail operations, renowned for their reliability and adaptability.

  • Versatile Usage: Served in both passenger and freight services with operational speeds up to 65 km/h.
  • DRG Classification: Categorised as 91.3-18 and 91.20 after incorporation into the Deutsche Reichsbahn fleet in 1925.
  • Phased Withdrawal: Retired from scheduled service by DB in 1964 and by DR in 1971.
  • Historic Significance: Represented a key class of tank locomotives during the early and mid-20th century.
  • Reliable Performance: Known for their dependable operation across diverse rail duties.
