Details

After 1945, approximately 230 T 9.3 locomotives remained within the Soviet occupation zone and were transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn by 1949. Initially, these locomotives were employed for both passenger and freight services on branch lines, proving their versatility and reliability in varied roles.

From the mid-1960s, the gradual transition to newer traction methods and ongoing decommissioning led to a steady decline in their operational use. The final units of this class were retired from active service by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1971, marking the end of an era for these enduring steam locomotives.

  • Post-War Service: Transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn after 1945, continuing operations in the Soviet occupation zone.
  • Versatile Operation: Used extensively for passenger and goods trains on branch lines.
  • Gradual Withdrawal: Decommissioning began in the mid-1960s as traction methods evolved.
  • End of Service: The last T 9.3 locomotives were retired in 1971 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
  • Historical Importance: Symbolises the transition period in post-war German railway history.

This detailed model accurately represents the significant legacy of the T 9.3 locomotives, making it an essential addition for collectors and enthusiasts of classic European steam engines.
