Details

After the Second World War, six former Prussian T 9.3 locomotives remained in Austria. Of these, only two units—91 1207 and 91 1347—were incorporated into the ÖBB 691 series, retaining their original Reichsbahn road numbers. These locomotives underwent several technical modifications, the most notable being the addition of a leading disc wheel set.

Both of these T 9.3 locomotives operated primarily in the St. Pölten area before being retired from service in 1957. Their continued use highlights the durability and adaptability of this classic steam locomotive design in post-war Austrian rail operations.

  • Post-War Austrian Service: Six locomotives remained in Austria, with two joining the ÖBB 691 series.
  • Original Road Numbers Retained: Units 91 1207 and 91 1347 kept their Reichsbahn designations.
  • Technical Upgrades: Featured modifications including a leading disc wheel set for improved performance.
  • Regional Operation: Served mainly in the St. Pölten area until retirement.
  • Retirement Date: Both locomotives were withdrawn from service in 1957.

This detailed model accurately reflects the historical and technical significance of the T 9.3 locomotives in Austria, making it an excellent choice for collectors interested in post-war European steam engines.
