Details

The striking diesel-electric T669 locomotive, developed by the CKD Prague factory, was created to meet export demands for six-axle diesel locomotives designed for heavy shunting duties in the former Soviet Union and Albania. Following the successful testing of three prototypes—designated CME for the Soviet Union and T669.0 for the CSD—series production began promptly. These powerful locomotives quickly became vital components in major marshalling yards throughout the USSR and Czechoslovakia.
