Details

The electric locomotives of the 1000 series from the Dutch State Railways were inspired by the SBB Ae 4/6 design. Unlike their Swiss counterparts, these locomotives were built for the Dutch direct current network rather than alternating current. Initially intended for express train services between major Dutch cities, they were predominantly used for goods train operations from 1948 to 1982. Of the ten locomotives produced, number 1010 is the sole survivor and is displayed at the railway museum in Utrecht.
