Details

Built at English Electric’s Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns works, this locomotive entered British Rail service as D6793 in 1963, initially allocated to Gateshead. Renumbered 37093 in 1974 and later 37509 in 1986, it spent much of its career in freight service, including time with the Freight Metals sector at Thornaby. After later operation under EWS, the locomotive was withdrawn and scrapped at Cardiff Canton in August 2005. Renowned for its long and varied service life, it remains a popular subject for railway enthusiasts and model collectors.
