DetailsThe T 478.1 and T 478.2 series are versatile diesel-electric universal locomotives, celebrated for their distinctive design that earned them the nickname "Bardotka," after the French actress Brigitte Bardot. Between 1966 and 1971, a total of 230 locomotives were produced for the former Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD) at the CKD factory in Prague. With the introduction of a computerised numbering system in 1988, these locomotives were reclassified as series 751 and 752. Since 1998, the series 751 locomotives have been painted in a uniform grey and red livery and are primarily used for freight transport, offering reliable and efficient service across the network. Renowned for their robust engineering and iconic appearance, the T 478.1 and T 478.2 series remain a significant part of Czechoslovak and Czech railway history, representing both innovation and enduring performance in diesel-electric traction. |
