DetailsDerived from the proven Class 110 components, the Class 111 series was developed as a dedicated express train locomotive. Special attention was given to smooth running at high speeds through upgraded bogies, as well as improved working conditions for train drivers. Between 1974 and 1984, Deutsche Bahn (DB) acquired a total of 227 locomotives. In spring 2022, locomotive number 111 074 was repainted in the eye-catching Touristikzug livery and is now used for vehicle marketing by DB Gebrauchtzug.
