The dog bone was once so sporty and appealing
That's how they knew him, that's how the escort fans of the seventies loved him! In the design of the RS2000, WIKING miniaturized the Ford, which embodies the motorsport flair of those years with its white body and blue stripes. The prototype was added to the range in 1973 - with an impressive 100 hp it made for many racing successes and quickly became a cross driver on the asphalt. Exactly these 100 hp were not for the faint of heart. Precisely because of its sporty image, the Ford Escort Mark I should be a stroke of luck in model politics for the British Ford works. On the island, the designers developed the first escort, which quickly acquired the dubious nickname “dog bone” because of the characteristic radiator grille. The sales figures exceeded the manufacturer's optimistic expectations by 30% after just two months. And in Germany, too, the first generation of escorts developed positively in parallel to the first Ford Capri.
