In 1967 Mercedes-Benz presented the L 406 as a new series and thus adapted the look to the cubic generation. Until well into the eighties, the van was to be widely used as a bread-and-butter car. And of course it made generations of schoolchildren happy when every morning the white Westmilch vehicle with the cow Lotti on the flank stopped in front of the school yard and delivered the school milk. After taking over the DKW production in Düsseldorf, it was immediately a success when Mercedes-Benz launched its first ?? light ?? Transporter presented. The Mercedes-Benz L 319 was significantly more spacious than the competition before the second generation with the L 406 cemented this reputation. Later the sprinter would follow in his footsteps.
