Pullman tanker brings Esso aviation fuel to the tarmac
WIKING miniaturizes German airport history: Immediately after the end of the war, Esso was one of the leading fuel suppliers in the young Federal Republic of Germany, which was sponsored by the Allies. Accordingly, they were given access to the airports from the start in order to ensure the aviation fuel supply there, first for military and then for civilian operations. Numerous teams from different manufacturers were on the road in the fiery red Esso appearance of the fifties - all with the international trademark of Esso Aviation Products. This also included the tank truck combination with the Pullman tractor unit from Mercedes-Benz, at that time front-wheel drive vehicles were a novelty in many places. The Pullman chassis were later used for fuel supply at many airports across Europe.
