Only the large professional fire brigades had already developed corresponding specialists with cranes in the pre-war years. After the war it was upgraded. Metz developed a rescue crane vehicle (RKW), which included both extensive technical equipment in the structure and a crane. The rescue vehicle was very popular with professional fire brigades in the 1960s. In times when technical assistance was becoming increasingly professional, the RKW was able to score points thanks to its wide range of possible uses.
