Hanomag's post-war truck in Hamacher services
WIKING friends have known the Berlin forwarding company Harry W. Hamacher for a long time. Now the traditional model makers are miniaturizing the Hanomag HD5N based on the example of the same name. Hanomag had tried its hand at truck construction as early as the 1930s, but there was no real success in civilian business. Instead, a five-tonne truck was developed in 1948 based on the ST 100 tractor - the 100 hp was hardly enough, however. In 1948/49, an HD5N truck with the same engine followed, with the front axle set back and the wheelbase extended. After two years, a modest 41 vehicles had been built - far too few to speak of economic production and further development opportunities. From then on, Hanomag concentrated on the then successful 1.5 to 3 ton trucks.
