The fire chief was sworn to Mercedes-Benz
In the mid-1970s, command vehicles were also standard on smaller guards - the W123 series was just the thing for that. The 123 series is the most widely built model from Mercedes-Benz to date and was also very popular with fire departments. It belongs to the upper middle class, in many places the 240 D replaced the W114 and W115 series, which did their robust job in the fire stations. From the start of series production in November 1975 to January 1986, a total of almost 2.7 million vehicles rolled off the assembly line.
