Around 50 years ago, Magirus Deutz amazed the experts with a new generation of hooded wagons. Although the time for hood trucks seemed to be running out, the new Ulm truck generation established itself as a robust all-rounder, especially in the construction sector. Industrial designer Louis Lepoix designed the body shell of the hood for Magirus. Especially on the construction site, the Ulm trucks had earned an impeccable reputation - also thanks to the air-cooled Deutz engines, which many construction companies considered to be the only alternative for a long time. "The German cops. With power and progress,” the truck builders advertised in 1970 and were even involved in the construction of the Munich Olympic Stadium at the time. Later they even take over the shirt sponsorship at FC Bayern Munich. The "Baubullen" from Magirus Deutz were in production for a total of almost 30 years. Hundreds of Magirus dump trucks with Deutz engines were there when the Baikal-Amur highway was built. The air coolers could withstand the lowest temperatures - there could not be more appreciation for the reliability of the "German Bulls". As early as the 1970s, WIKING built the last corner hood generation with the legendary Meiller trough and tipper. They are now an integral part of the classic car scene and are enjoying growing popularity there. They still appear progressive – even 50 years after their appearance.
