R9773 Hornby Skaledale Kings Arms Public House

New in from Hornby is the Kings Arms Public House. Located in ‘a place somewhere which is not far from anywhere’ this pub could be happily situated on any layout. With its unique country charm this building would happily be situated down a sleepy country lane, or even as a country themed pub in the middle of town.

Like most of the buildings in the Skaledale range this one is fitted with etch-brass windows. The detailing on the front of the building is pleasant, only let down by the usual lack of interior. Another nice addition to the building is an appropriate sign mounted on the side of the building, and a quaint overhang, common of the older style of public house.
Aside from the lack of interior, standard for the Skaledale and Scenecraft ranges, the only let down is the sign mounted on the front of the pub. The sign itself is simply glued onto the front of the building allowing the texture of the wall behind it to show through.

Overall the ‘Kings Arms’ is a nice little model from Hornby. With a bit of work, and a few details inside and out this could be worthy of any layout. The picture below shows a possible arrangement of the pub, with the addition of a few Preiser figures, and Faller benches, for added drama in the scene. The pub name could be modified using the TSOO67 Pub Signs from Tiny Signs.
