Search Results Page

Regardless of which method you use to search for products you will find the results grouped into convenient batches of 25.  The results can be re-sorted by price or part number, ascending or descending. On the left hand side of the page, just below the basket the ‘Refine Results’ will load up shortly after the content on the page. Broadly speaking, the ‘Refine Results’ feature has the same behaviour as the ‘Products’ page (see below) with the addition of ‘Only in Stock’ filter.

Products Page

The ‘Products’ page, near the top of the left hand navigation menu of each page, is the most flexible way to find our products.  You can select any combination of Scale, Categories and Keywords to fine tune your selection. Clicking the figure in blue just to the right of each link directs you straight to the products, (the figure is the number of results available), or alternatively you can click the ‘Show Products’ link near the top of the page.

Gauge/ Scale & Manufacturer Pages

Using the Scale pages you can search an entire gauge or scale for a particular type of product.  For example if you want to search for OO scale BR Wagons you would see that Bachmann, Dapol, Parkside & Hornby all have products that fit the description.  Products are assembled onto the page in convenient batches of 25 with links to further groups of 25 both at the top and bottom of the page.  Searches on the manufacturer pages function in the same way but are obviously limited to the manufacturer in question.  Read on for details on how to use these searches...

On each of the gauge feature pages, and on the manufacturer focus pages, you will find a button or a vertical row of buttons in the top left hand corner of the content area of the page. Occasionally the feature will be located in the manufacturer heading bar, but still in the content area of the page.  This means you can search products relevant to the feature page in question (i.e. OO gauge products on the OO Focus page).  If you hover on the ‘scale’ button, or one of the ‘scale’ buttons if there are more than one, then a 2nd tier will appear containing available categories, hover on a category and a further tier will present itself with ‘keyword’ terms.

Troubleshooting Gauge/ Scale & Manufacturer Search Feature

• You can ‘jump off’ on any of the 2nd or 3rd tier buttons so you don’t need to drill right down to the lowest level unless you want to.
• If the ‘scale’ (1st tier) of buttons are clicked then you will be taken to the ‘Products’ page (see above) with the required selection made.
• For some mobile browsers where the ‘hover’ functionality may not work, simply click the ‘scale search button’ to continue on the ‘Products’ page.
• There is sometimes an issue with the number of items on the list and we don’t really have a fix for this but it can be minimised by pressing F11 for full screen and aligning the search button at the top of the screen before starting. This is usually fine on a 4:3 ratio screen but sometimes not on a 16:9, but all this depends also on the resolution you are running at - another way (with a conventional mouse) is to use the scroll wheel (if you have one) whilst hovering on the list to scroll downwards; or whilst leaving the pointer over the search list, use the down arrow on the keyboard.
  Failing all this simply click the ‘scale search button’ and it will take you to the ‘Products’ page. Here you can select any combination of manufacturers categories and keywords in any order to drill down to the selection you need. This is in fact the most dynamic way of searching our products.

Keyword Searching

Every page has a Keyword Searchbox located in the top right corner.  Enter the keywords that fit the description of what you are looking for and click the ‘Go’ button when you are ready to search.

For example, if you were looking for a Hornby Class 31 diesel loco, you might enter the keywords ‘hornby 31’.  This will then search the database and return any results that match these keywords.  The more keywords that you enter, the narrower the search will be, so entering only ‘hornby’ will return every item from the Hornby range, and entering just ‘wagon’ will return every wagon in every scale by every manufacturer.  The best way to search is to keep it broad by only entering minimal terms and then use the ‘Refine Results’ on the left hand side of the Search Results Page

Part Number Searching

Below the Keyword searchbox on every page is a Part Number searchbox.  If you know the part number of the item you are looking for, or have a rough idea of what it is, enter that number here to return any products with a part number which match your search.  Again, click the ‘Go’ button to begin the search.

For example, entering ‘gm1’ will return all products with a part number matching, or containing that search term.  As with the keyword searchbox, entering a longer number will narrow the search, so entering just ‘gm’ will return more products, and entering ‘gm11’ will return less products.

As with the keyword search above, use the ‘Refine Results’ on the left hand side of the Search Results Page

Trade & Retail Accounts

For the benefit of other shops and traders who buy from us, Gaugemaster.com has a dedicated Trade section requiring a logon.  Customers who do not own shops or businesses do not need a logon to browse the site or place orders, but we provide an option to register an account to save your details for next time.  Customers or businesses who do not have a Trade account with us, but who wish to open one, should contact us to begin the application process.

Links & Other Options

On many parts of the website, we may offer links to search for particular types of product.  Clicking these links will then perform the appropriate search in the same way as any of the above methods.

If you are still unable to find what you are looking for, we may still be able to identify the correct product.  By all means e-mail us from our contact page, including details of what you are looking for, which scale you model and your e-mail address so that we can get back to you.

Downloading Files

We have made files available for download from the site, including price lists and instruction documents.  All of these are in PDF document format, and you will need a PDF document reader, such as Adobe Acrobat, on your computer.
