Tiny Signs

Tiny Signs

For over 20 years, whenever there has been a need to brighten up a corner of a station building or to really give a layout that final lifelike touch, modellers have turned to TINY SIGNS.  These intriguing little accessories, so easy on the pocket, yet so effective in application, add instant atmosphere to any model scene.  It is small wonder that people often remark that ‘a layout without TINY SIGNS isn’t quite finished’.

Enamel Advertising Signs

Tiny Signs - Enamel Advertising SignsIn days gone by, manufacturers used to advertise their wares through bold, stove-enamelled designs fused on to sheet steel.  So durable were these signs that many of them outlasted their product, so that whatever period you are modelling, you will always have an excuse to feature some of them on your layout.  These are super-detailed, high-gloss reproductions of actual signs, and being self-adhesive are very easy to use.

Trackside Notices

Tiny Signs - Trackside NoticesWarnings of trespass and danger on the line were often posted to warn both workmen and public of the perils of proceeding without due care and attention to train movements.  The vast majority of these were made from brittle cast iron but enough examples have survived to enable us to present a wide selection of self-adhesive, high gloss miniatures in one package.  Please note that the O Gauge collections are regionalised.

Carriage Prints

Tiny Signs - Carriage NoticesAn innovative marketing ploy used by railway companies until well after nationalisation, was to display panoramic prints and toned photographs of beauty spots served by the railway in passenger compartments where they could be most effective in promoting services.  The model coach builder can now add this decorative touch with complete authenticity using our collection of over 60 different examples.

Travel Posters

Tiny Signs - Travel PosterNo station building is complete without a colourful array of travel posters specifically designed to encourage passengers to go somewhere else!  We were allowed to access the poster archives of the National Railway Museum and the result is this collection of railway advertising art.  The ‘N’ Scale posters are already mounted on their boards, while the ‘OO’ Scale versions allow you to mount them on boards of your choice.

Poster Boards

Tiny Signs - Poster BoardsThese display boards printed on scale thickness card and headed by the company name or logo, having been specifically designed to show off your travel posters in the perfect setting.  Some small boards carry timetables or chalked messages, just like the real thing; the large size boards can take one large poster or two small ones side by side - a very versatile accessory.

Station Signs

Tiny Signs - Station SignsWith early station signs, old photographs suggest that the direction signs and office names used on early stations, though widely different initially, soon distilled to a style which seemed to be adopted nationally using white lettering against a black background.  Following nationalisation, a separateTiny Signs - Station Signs colour identity was given to each of the six new regions of British Railways for use on badges, timetables and of course, signs.  The chosen colour owed some allegiance to the liveries of the historical railway companies of the area.  Heralding the era of the BR ‘double arrow’ graphic, all station signwork was redesigned to a new national standard which employed white signboards, blue arrowheads and helvetica type.  All these eras are faithfully reproduced in this range of station signs.
