Walthers Models
Walthers distribute some fantastic ranges, and we have collected the best of them to stock here at Gaugemaster. The ranges cover a wide variety of Locomotives and Rolling Stock from all over North America in HO and N scales, as well as scenic materials and a fantastic range of building kits – many of which, the industrial buildings especially, would not look out of place on layouts representing British or Continental railways.

The Life-Like brand has been synonymous with great value over the years and this continues as part ofthe Walthers ‘family’. Covering a smaller range of locomotives, figures and scenics there is something for everyone in this budget priced range. We also stock their HO range of slot car sets, which are enormously popular in America. One set is even combined with a model railway layout as well, complete with a level crossing!

Cornerstone is wholly owned subsidiary of Walthers and offers the North American railroader a fantastic range of buildings and structures in either pre-built or laser cut, plastic or resin kit form. Available in both HO and N gauges, many of these items can be built as is, or easily anglicised to be used on British based layouts, as in fact many UK modellers already have. The comprehensive choice in terms of warehousing and factory units is breathtaking along with the sheer size of some of
these structures; about the only thing that’s not big about this range is the price! For modellers of more rural scenes there are farm buildings, small stores and gas stations along with the familiar grain silos plus cranes, bridges and water towers that will help one set the scene firmly in the American way. One particular item which has boundless possibilities is the Union Station building WH933-3094. This impressive building measuring almost 20 by 8 inches and is 9 inches high, can not only be used as a classic US Terminus Station, but with a little work could be turned into a civic building, library or museum. The Trainline range focuses on younger modellers and beginners to the hobby, although the fantastic value for money means that the Trainline range should not be overlooked by more veteran model railroaders.
The range comprises of complete starter sets as well as additional Locomotives and wagons in HO scale. The models are sold pristine, so are a good base for additional weathering and work to be done on them. A small range of HO buildings are also available.
Proto produce exceedingly well detailed locomotives and rolling stock in HO scale, as well as a range of locomotives in N scale.
All Proto HO locomotives feature along with their superb detailing:
- Powerful 5 pole skew wound motors with balanced armatures.
- Precisely meshed helical gears, for quiet smooth running.
- RP-25 Metal wheels
- All wheel drive and electrical pick up
- Machined Brass flywheels for outstanding slow operation
