Gaugemaster Scenics
Effective scenery and landscapes can often be the difference between an average layout and an excellent one. Gaugemaster Scenics bring a whole new dimension to modelling landscapes, with new heights of realism and ease of use. Our extensive range covers the complete spectrum of scenic modelling, and here we outline the products that we offer and their uses, as well as our other accessories which will enhance any landscape or street scene.
 Scenic mats are a low cost and easy way of covering large areas (including sharp contours) with grass or gravel. Our grass scenic mats are made with special flock appropriate to the ‘season’ of your chosen mat, with appropriate shades bonded to a tough kraft backing paper. The grass texture looks true to life from Gauges ‘Z’ through to ‘OO’. Our gravel mat uses the same method of construction but uses simulated stone chippings. Our full range of complimentary GAUGEMASTER scenics can also add variety to your ground cover. Standard sizes are 100 x 75cm, and we also offer a larger style version of the Spring mat, which measures 240 x 120cm.

 We offer a large range of scatter materials, ideal for most applications. These scatters can be mixed to create unique colours and textures and offers huge scope for the discerning scenic modeller. From grass and earth colours to coal & tarmac, there are many different grass scatters of different grades. We also produce Rough Grasses in different colours for a wild grass effect. These are supplied as a small mat from which the desired size and shape can be teased out and glued into place.

 Looking around the landscape, it is always amazing to see, even in the most urban of landscapes, quite how many and how different are the types of trees you will see. Naturally, you will want to replicate this on your model railway, and we offer a wide variety of trees in varying pack sizes - all of which can be superdetailed if you wish.
Our bulk packs of trees are an economical way of filling large areas with trees at a keen price. These trees also make ideal starting points for providing extra detail using the complimentary range of GAUGEMASTER scenics.  Lichen has been a popular way of creating hedges and bushes on model railways, and remains one of our best selling scenic items due to it's ease of use. To guarantee quality, our lichen is glycerine impregnated.

 Our plaster products are ideal for covering formers and creating scenery, and are versatile & easy to use. We also offer cork sheets, which can be cut to size and shape. These are available in two different thicknesses.

 Tunnel Portals provide a neat and tidy entrance to the bore and hold back the hillside above and around the tunnel entrance. Both single and double portals come complete with side walls. Our walling is an easy and popular way to replicate brick or stonework. By heating up the walling, using a hair dryer or similar, curves can be replicated by bending the walling onto a former and leaving to cool down.

 Our range of flexible track offers a variety of different solutions for both ‘OO’ & ‘N’ Scales, with differing rail and sleeper types. All types of track are available as single lengths, and in boxes of 24 or 100. In addition, we offer a full range of track related accessories, including joiners, track pins, re-railers and cleaning products.

 Complementing our range of track and related accessories are our selection of underlays and ballast scatters, which are perfect for achieving realistic trackwork. The Ballasted Underlays for both ‘OO’ & ‘N’ scales are two of our most popular products, and are so easy to use. These are different from normal foam underlays in that they have real granite stone bonded to the shoulders and top of the foam. The track then slots into the pre-moulded recess. Arguably this is the most realistic underlay on the market to date, providing realism matched only by time consuming hand ballasting.
For those who prefer to hand ballast, we also offer cork roadbed with chamfered edges and a selection of ballast scatters, again for both ‘OO’ & ‘N’ scales.
